About the Project
BACKGROUND
With the Truck canopy reaching the end of it service life, Viva Energy was looking to enhance the offering available at Hexham by installing a new truck canopy and executing a Pump Replacement Project (PRP). The scope included installation of new pumps at both the truck and car canopies and running new fuel lines to ensure all products were available at all pumps. As part of these works VIVA Energy were looking to decommission the existing LPG offering as well as install a new Class 1 Oil Water separator (SPEL Puraceptor) to improve the sites drainage issues and quality of the stormwater discharge.
CHALLENGES
One of biggest challenges faced in this project was the programme of works. It was integral to Viva Energy that the works be completed in a timely manner due to the disruption to customers cause by the demolishing and installation of the new truck canopy. Working closely with the Principal Contractor, SwitchCo were able to plan and stage the works effectively such that the disruption to the truck canopy was 2 weeks only during the 6 weeks of construction works.
OUTCOMES
The success of the project was due to SwitchCo playing a vital role at every project stage. Whether it was concept design, planning application, or detailed design, including in-house fuel system design, SwitchCo were able to guide the project from inception through to completion effectively solving any issues as they arose. We were also engaged as Site Superintendent, and performed regular site inspections to ensure the project ran smoothly and was delivered to the satisfaction of a happy repeat customer.
