About the Project
BACKGROUND
The fuel system at BP’s site in Port Augusta had reached the end of its lifecycle and as a part of BP’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and upgrading their sites, BP was looking to upgrade enhance their existing truck stop offer. SwitchCo were engaged by BP and were tasked with the challenge of redesigning and enhancing the site’s key fuel offering with a tank replacement project as well as upgrading the store customer facilities.
CHALLENGES
This project presented some key challenges for SwitchCo in the design and delivery of this project. Our team had to consider the pre-existing conditions on site; a high-water table with shallow groundwater, stringent EPA conditions imposed on the site, especially when dewatering was required for the tank excavation. SwitchCo also had to consider the staged delivery of the construction works as it was a key requirement for BP that the fuel & customer facilities remain open during these works.
OUTCOMES
SwitchCo were able to successfully deliver and manage the Design, Tender and Construction works for this site. We were also able to provide Superintendent Supervision for all construction works. This helped provide our client with peace of mind knowing that they have another set of eyes and ears on the ground and that their project is on track. It also demonstrates that managing works in remote locations is easy for the team at SwitchCo.
